The Titans Cut Jordan Elliott Over a Gun. Robert Saleh Still Wants NFL Teams to Call Him

The Titans cut Jordan Elliott for going to his car to get a gun after a practice fight.. and Robert Saleh is now telling the other 31 NFL teams to CALL HIM if they need a defensive tackle.

Last Thursday, Elliott got into it with JC Latham, was sent off the practice field and went to the parking lot, where Saleh confirmed he pulled a gun. According to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, teammate John Franklin-Myers stepped in and talked him down. Nobody was hurt, and Tennessee released Elliott on Tuesday.

Latham even said the two had NEVER argued before and had hung out together away from football. Think about how quickly that situation went from a normal practice disagreement to something that could’ve ended horribly.

Saleh, who coached Elliott in San Francisco, called it a “terrible lapse in judgment” but said he sees it as a possible “cry for help.” He brought up recent NFL player suicides, without suggesting Elliott was necessarily in that same situation, and said he’d personally vouch for Elliott’s character to another team.

And there’s something to respect about that. You absolutely CANNOT have guys going to get guns because they’re angry at teammates. Tennessee was right to release him. But holding somebody accountable and giving up on them as a human being are two completely different things.

Saleh can believe Elliott needs help while acknowledging he can’t be part of that locker room anymore.

And John Franklin-Myers deserves a TON of credit here, too. Nobody signs up to be the guy talking an armed teammate down in the parking lot. He stepped in when it really mattered.
