The Steelers went to the most romantic city in the world and gave France a 16-10 football game that only Pittsburgh fans could truly appreciate.
Welcome to Steelers football, Paris!
The Saints were technically the home team, which apparently nobody told Steeler Nation. Terrible Towels everywhere, “HERE WE GO STEELERS” chants echoing through the stadium, and Chris Boswell sprinting onto the field with seconds left in the half to casually drill a 47-yard field goal. The French wanted American football.. well, they’re getting the FULL experience.
And I love how Pittsburgh handled this entire trip. Santonio Holmes was out recreating his Super Bowl toe-tap in front of the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. Meanwhile, the actual Steelers were preparing to win a game where Payton Wilson had to save our asses with a red-zone interception and a 42-year-old Aaron Rodgers helped put the game away by SCRAMBLING for a first down.
You can take the Steelers halfway across the planet, but you cannot take the Steelers out of the Steelers.
We’re now 5-2, winners of three straight, and have somehow become the first NFL team to win regular-season games in both Dublin and Paris. Are we going to score 30 points every week? Apparently not. But we’ll show up in another country, make it feel like a home game, play some ugly football and leave with a win.
Vive les Steelers! Or whatever the hell you’re supposed to say.
