The World Series is officially Brewers vs. Rays.. and if you think that’s a bad matchup because the Yankees and Dodgers aren’t involved, do you actually like baseball or do you just like the logos?
Milwaukee won 103 games. Tampa Bay won 98. These were the BEST teams in their respective leagues, with 201 wins combined, and their payrolls ranked 19th and 25th in MLB at the end of August!
The Brewers SWEPT the back-to-back defending champion Dodgers. The Rays knocked out the Yankees. What the hell else were these teams supposed to do, borrow somebody’s pinstripes?
And neither franchise has EVER won a World Series!
Milwaukee hasn’t even been there since 1982. Tampa Bay has been twice and lost both times. One of these fanbases is about to experience something they’ve waited their entire lives for, and we’re supposed to be disappointed because the TV markets aren’t big enough?
I actually LOVE this matchup. You’ve got two teams that spent the entire season proving they belong here, and now one of them is finally getting its first championship.
And if this thing goes seven?.. We’re crowning a first-time World Series champion on HALLOWEEN NIGHT.
That’s some pretty damn good October baseball.
