The Falcons’ Throwback Logo Became a Nazi Joke. Please Don’t Apologize.

Atlanta Falcons, NFL, NFL logos, Throwback uniforms, Social media

The Atlanta Falcons tried showing off their 1966 throwback logo and somehow ended up in a conversation about NAZI GERMANY.

They changed their profile picture to the old Falcons logo over their original helmet stripes, and the internet immediately started comparing it to Nazi imagery. And listen.. once somebody points it out, I can see the resemblance. But this is a football logo that’s been around for SIXTY YEARS. Nobody in Atlanta was trying to revive the Third Reich. They were trying to show off some throwback uniforms!

The worst thing the Falcons could possibly do now is treat this like some massive organizational scandal. PLEASE do not give us a three-paragraph apology about how the Atlanta Falcons condemn hatred and are committed to doing better. We know! You’re 2-4, you’ve got an undefeated 49ers team coming to town, and somehow your profile picture is generating more conversation than your actual football team.

They’ve already quietly changed the picture to a helmet. PERFECT. Leave it alone. Let people make their jokes and move on.

Because nothing will turn a ridiculous two-day internet joke into a month-long controversy faster than an NFL team releasing a statement that starts with “We are aware…”
