College football is the only sport where fans will stay up until 5:30 in the morning painting a giant rock just to piss off another fanbase, and I absolutely LOVE it.
Kentucky fans snuck onto Tennessee’s campus overnight, painted their famous Rock blue, and wrote “Stein Time” and “Big Blue Rock” on it. Tennessee fans showed up, things reportedly got heated, and according to BroBible, Kentucky fans allegedly called the COPS.
All of this over a damn ROCK.
Tennessee wasn’t having any of it either. By 8 AM, they had the entire thing painted white again. Imagine getting called into work that early because somebody from Kentucky painted your school’s favorite boulder the wrong color.
You’ve got two ranked SEC teams playing a massive game with playoff implications, and their fans are already going to war over a piece of landscaping before kickoff.
This is why college football is so awesome. The traditions, the rivalries, the completely unnecessary levels of pettiness. You can’t manufacture this stuff. These people care SO MUCH about a rock, and somehow I completely understand.
