The Cleveland Guardians really chased down the White Sox to win the AL Central, then decided they weren’t finished ruining Chicago’s year..
The White Sox went into Cleveland and won the first TWO games of the ALDS. They needed ONE more win to reach the ALCS. Instead, the Guardians rattled off three straight and completed the REVERSE SWEEP with a 2-0 win in Game 5!
Josรฉ Ramรญrez hits the two-run homer, Gavin Williams strikes out 12, and the White Sox strike out 21 TIMES. Chicago had three chances to finish Cleveland off and couldn’t do it.
And I actually feel for White Sox fans a little. After three straight 100-loss seasons, you finally have a team worth getting excited about. You win a playoff series, go up 2-0 against your division rival, start dreaming about the ALCS.. and then THAT happens. Baseball can be a cruel sport.
Now both Championship Series are officially set!
ALCS: Tampa Bay Rays vs. Cleveland Guardians
NLCS: Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Milwaukee Brewers
And I’m taking the DODGERS and RAYS in the World Series!
Tampa just swept the Yankees and took five of six from Cleveland during the regular season. I like their chances, especially with how much Cleveland had to throw at Chicago just to survive. And until somebody knocks the Dodgers off in October, I’m riding with LA to get another shot at a championship.
Plus, I would LOVE a Dodgers-Rays World Series. One team with a ridiculously loaded roster and the other constantly finding ways to compete without spending anywhere near that kind of money.
Give me those two playing for a championship!
