A week ago, the Yankees were beating the absolute piss out of Boston, outscoring the Red Sox 18-2 in two games. New York was feeling pretty damn good about October.. then Tampa showed up and held them to FIVE RUNS in the entire ALDS.
ONE hit in Game 1. FOUR errors in Game 2. And tonight they lose 4-3 at Yankee Stadium to complete the sweep.
And we HAVE to talk about that fan interference!
Remember Jeffrey Maier in 1996? The kid reached over the wall, Derek Jeter got a playoff home run, and Yankees fans loved him for it.
Thirty years later, a Yankees fan reaches over the wall on an Anthony Volpe ball initially ruled a game-tying homer. Replay overturns it, Volpe gets an RBI double, and the guy gets thrown out!
