Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd just announced they broke up OVER A YEAR AGO, which means they spent an entire WNBA season playing together while fans were still talking about them like they were a couple.
I’m sorry, that’s an insane level of professionalism. Most people see their ex at Applebee’s and immediately ask for a table on the other side of the building. These two were going to practice together, running plays, traveling across the country, and trying to get the Dallas Wings into the playoffs. Which they actually did.
And remember when people were saying Dallas only drafted Azzi to keep Paige happy? Well, they weren’t even dating when Azzi went No. 1 overall. Paige actually had to explain that she got drafted because she’s a damn good basketball player, not because of their relationship.
They say they’re still friends, everything is cool, and they’ve already proven they can play basketball together without any issues.
Meanwhile, they were getting so much hate online that people were apparently sending nasty messages to their families.
So the two people who actually went through the breakup handled it better than the strangers watching from their couches.
That’s a pretty impressive accomplishment on its own.
