The Tampa Bay Rays waited 18 YEARS to host another World Series game at Tropicana Field.. and Milwaukee Brewers fans showed up like they owned the damn place!
According to TickPick, 41.3% of its Game 4 ticket purchases came from WISCONSIN, compared to just 30.5% from Florida.
Think about that. You’re the HOME team, hosting the biggest baseball games your city has seen in nearly two decades, and the visiting fans are taking over your stadium!
Brewers chants were breaking out during batting practice. Milwaukee fans were filling the sections behind their dugout. Garrett Mitchell even talked about how incredible it was hearing that kind of support on the road.
And it gets better..
Back in Milwaukee, 31,000 Brewers fans packed American Family Field for Game 3 just to watch their team play on the BIG SCREEN. The team sold out watch parties for both road games in less than 20 minutes!
So Milwaukee had thousands of fans trying to turn Tampa’s stadium into their own, while another 31,000 were sitting in their actual home stadium watching the game on television.
I LOVE that.
These people have been waiting since 1982 to see their team in the World Series again. They’re buying expensive tickets, traveling across the country, and making damn sure their players know they’re there.
Imagine being a Rays fan, though. Your team finally brings the World Series back home, and you’re surrounded by people chanting for the team trying to eliminate you.
At least Tampa gave its fans something to celebrate with that Game 4 walk-off!
But man, Milwaukee fans deserve some serious credit. They waited 44 years for this opportunity, and apparently the entire state of Wisconsin has decided they’re not missing a second of it.
