EA Sports College Football FINALLY came back after 11 years, and now we’re already hearing it could disappear again because it’s getting too expensive to make?.. Give me a break.
Mike Straw at Insider Gaming reports that people close to the game are worried rising NIL and development costs could eventually kill the franchise. EA is reportedly spending just under $20 million on player NIL deals. That’s a lot of money, but EA also reported $7.5 BILLION in revenue last fiscal year.
College Football 25 was the best-selling sports video game in U.S. history by dollar sales. You’re telling me a franchise with THAT kind of demand might not survive because it isn’t making Madden money?
I’m sorry, but EA has the money to keep this game around for decades. They just have to be willing to accept a successful game without trying to squeeze every last dollar out of it.
They already tried putting paid progression into Dynasty and Road to Glory this year before getting roasted into removing it. Now there’s reporting that those ideas could come back.
How about just making a good college football game and letting people enjoy it? We already pay $70 for the damn thing. I shouldn’t need my debit card ready every time I open Dynasty Mode.
If this series disappears again, that’s on EA. Don’t blame the college kids getting $1,500 to be in the game because a multibillion-dollar company can’t figure out how to be happy making money without making ALL the money.
