The WNBA Sold Out Game 6, Then Scheduled It at Lunch

WNBA, WNBA Finals, Atlanta Dream, Golden State Valkyries, Atlanta Hawks, State Farm Arena

The mayor of Atlanta is asking businesses and schools to let people watch the WNBA Finals tomorrow.. because Game 6 is scheduled for 12:30 PM on a THURSDAY.

How the hell are we doing this with a championship on the line?

Atlanta is down 3-2 to Golden State. The Valkyries can win the whole thing tomorrow, and the Dream can force a Game 7. It was supposed to start at 8 PM, but the Hawks also play at State Farm Arena that night, so now everybody gets a lunch-break Finals game.

The Dream’s owners say they warned about these scheduling conflicts TWO MONTHS AGO. The Hawks have even adjusted their own schedule to accommodate the Finals.

And tomorrow’s game is SOLD OUT!

That’s the part that gets me. The Dream normally play in a 3,500-seat arena. For the Finals, they’re filling a building that holds around 17,000 people. Fans are showing up. This is exactly what you WANT!

Now Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens is asking employers and educators to let people watch, while fans in Golden State are looking at a 9:30 AM tipoff.

Imagine spending all season trying to grow your audience, getting a sold-out championship game, and then making everyone figure out how to watch it during work.

You finally have all these people who WANT to watch your championship.. and you’re making them sneak it on their phones between meetings.
